DISABLED BATHROOM EDUCATION

Our Mission

Equalway’s disabled bathroom education efforts are centred on raising public awareness and promoting respectful, appropriate use of accessible toilets. Their program combines community education, advocacy campaigns, and practical guidance.

Promoting Respectful Use of Accessible Bathrooms.

A major issue highlighted by Equalway is the misuse of disabled toilets by people who do not need them. This can prevent timely access for individuals with disabilities who rely on these facilities for essential health and mobility needs.

  • Misuse includes using accessible toilets as changing rooms, for long breaks, or vandalism.
  • Such behaviour reduces availability and creates barriers to independence and dignity.

Through education campaigns (including social media videos and public messaging), Equalway teaches that:

  • Accessible bathrooms are not “extra” spaces—they are essential facilities.
  • People with visible and invisible disabilities may need them.
  • Respecting access is part of inclusive community behaviour.

Services We Offer

Our organisation focuses on educating the public about the importance of accessible bathrooms. We organise workshops and distribute informational materials to raise awareness about respectful and appropriate use of these facilities. Our goal is to foster understanding and support for individuals who rely on accessible toilets for their health and mobility needs.
